Job Description
Purpose:
Hallsville UMC in Hallsville, MO is seeking a Youth Ministry Director to join our team. Working with youth from 6th grade - 12th grade, the Director’s goal is to facilitate Christian Biblical learning with fun and exciting programs that help youth grow in their faith.
Responsibilities:
- Provide vision and leadership for the youth ministry program
- Plan and lead a regular youth ministry event time
- Work with our Youth Ministry Team to provide a vibrant youth ministry program
- Recruit, equip, train, and inspire volunteers
- Develop program growth through promotion, invitation, and personal conversations
- Ensure safety of youth through volunteer background checks and training through the United Methodist online tool, Safe Gatherings
- Create other events or opportunities in order to develop a more vibrant ministry
- Manage the Youth Ministry budget and develop it through the Finance Team each year
- Attend and possibly assist with worship on Sundays if not leading Sunday morning youth activities
Experience/Skills:
- United Methodist background preferred but not necessary
- Good interpersonal skills
- Served in a church/youth ministry as a volunteer or student leader
- High energy, enthusiasm and creativity
- Organization skills (planning, scheduling, communication, etc.)
- Self-starter
Time Commitment:
- 7 hours a week between time with youth, planning, organizing and communication
Benefits:
- $75 a week
- Two-weeks/per year paid vacation equivalent to work week
- Additional time off, without pay, is negotiable
